Parent AI Safety Workshops

Navigate AI with Your Kids — Confidently

$500 per 90-minute session

Why Parents Need This

AI is everywhere — ChatGPT for homework, AI image generators, voice assistants, recommendation algorithms. Kids are using AI whether we realize it or not. Most parents feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start.

This workshop changes that. In 90 minutes, you'll get age-by-age guidelines, practical family policies, monitoring tools, and the confidence to navigate AI with your kids — not against them.

"Finally, someone explained AI without tech jargon. I left with actual rules I could implement that night. My 13-year-old actually agreed to our new AI policy!"
— Sarah M., Avondale parent of two

What You'll Learn

🧠 How AI Actually Works

🔍 Monitoring Tools

Practical tools and techniques for different ages. When to monitor, how much transparency to provide, and using monitoring as a conversation starter.

💬 Conversation Starters

About the Presenter

Steve Sargent is a DoD IT contractor (TS/SCI eligible) and father living in Avondale, AZ. He runs an extensive AI lab and stays current with AI capabilities and risks — so parents don't have to become technologists themselves.

Steve's approach: "Parents don't need to be AI experts. They need to be informed guides. My job is to translate the technical into the practical — what actually matters for your family, tonight."

Steve partners with Athena, an advanced AI assistant, to demonstrate AI capabilities live during workshops and answer technical questions in real-time.

Common Questions

Is this workshop in-person or online?

Both options available! In-person for Avondale and surrounding West Valley areas. Online via Zoom for anyone else. Most parents prefer in-person for the Q&A, but online works great too.

Should kids attend the workshop?

No — this is for parents only. Kids change the dynamic and parents don't ask the questions they really want to ask. We recommend:

  • Attend the workshop yourself
  • Review the materials with your partner
  • Have a family meeting to present the AI policy together
  • Let kids ask questions — we provide age-appropriate conversation guides
What if my kid already knows more about AI than I do?

Very common! Tech-savvy kids often explore AI before parents realize it. The workshop isn't about becoming the AI expert in your house — it's about:

  • Setting appropriate boundaries (your job as parent)
  • Understanding risks your kid might not see
  • Having informed conversations, not technical lectures
  • Knowing when to say "let me think about that" vs. "no"

We specifically address this scenario and give you language that works with tech-confident kids.

Can we schedule for evenings or weekends?

Yes! Most workshops are scheduled evenings (6-8pm) or weekends to accommodate working parents. PTA presentations are often during school hours — whatever works for your group.

Book 2-3 weeks in advance for best availability.

What if we have specific concerns (special needs, anxiety, etc.)?

Private sessions can be customized for your family's specific situation. AI has unique implications for:

  • Kids with ADHD (hyperfocus on AI, homework dependency)
  • Anxiety or depression (AI as unhealthy coping mechanism)
  • Autism (AI as social substitute vs. social tool)
  • Learning differences (AI accommodation vs. cheating)

Mention any specific concerns when booking and we'll tailor the content accordingly.

Do you offer follow-up sessions?

Yes! Many families book a 30-minute follow-up 4-6 weeks later to:

  • Discuss how the AI policy is working
  • Adjust rules based on real-world experience
  • Address new AI tools or situations that came up
  • Troubleshoot specific challenges

Follow-ups are $150 for 30 minutes. Not required, but many parents find them valuable.
